roof rack cross rails - not adjustable

I originally looked at three sites. A GM dealer listed the cross rails at a similar price, but they were 'unavailable' when I tried to order them. They are not adjustable - the front is longer than the rear. Strangely the instructions list a suggested mounting spacing = they only install at specific places on the roof rails and are fixed; not adjustable.
