Get rid of the wooden stick!
These struts are a perfect match for the originals. They are very easy to install with the original pivots. Since they come as a pair you only have to order 1 set. I own and operate a collision and restoration shop and it ALWAYS baffles me that people will try to replace only one strut. They both make the same number of cycles up and down, so they wear at the same rate. The hood and hinges (this also applies to the rear hatch) needs to be parallel to operate smoothly and not wear the hinges. AM Auto has very reasonable prices and their shipping is excellent.
